WE
DO BASEBALL NOT BALLET
|
Have you ever noticed
that we, as a society, react only to the things in life that are thrown
at us, the things in life that we have to deal with, or things in life
that we actively take offense to?
Seldom, if ever, do
we sit back and enjoy the beautiful things in
life that our Creator has gifted us with.
For example, my
oldest just finished his season of All-stars. He's
really good at playing baseball. However, he has a ways to go to sit
back and enjoy what God has blessed him with on a daily basis.
We were coming home
from the hospital the other day and I was already in the "receiving
blessings" frame of mind because my fourth son just arrived.
As we ramped on the
interstate, the sky was lit up with pink, puffy clouds liberally
distributed across the sky. I asked him, "Look
what God has given you."
He said,
"What?" I continued, "He's given you a sky full of cotton
candy." He replied, What are you talking about?"
I said, "Look up
in the sky. Doesn't that look like a sky full of
cotton candy?" He very astutely stated, "Isn't that caused by
the light of the sun reflecting off the clouds?" I explained,
"Yes. That's one way to look at it.
But your Creator lets
that happen so you can enjoy it as more than a scientific fact. He
blesses you with a gift of a real
live portrait and painting. It's up to you how you receive the
gift."
My wife and I now
have 4 boys. We do baseball not ballet. I have to remind myself to stop
and enjoy the more eloquent things
in life like the beautiful sunsets, rain and the birth of a new son.
Life is in
everything. It's a gift. Enjoy it.
As a society,
baseball is our national pastime.
And it's a great game.
As a person, enjoy your life with the vision your Creator has given.
It's a great gift.
Challenge:
Throughout the next week, take note and enjoy 3 things about life that
you would not normally even acknowledge as
special. This will take a conscious effort for you to look for these
"everyday things".
Please email me with
your blessings and success stories.
