Article: Empty
Eyes |
Successful living is
more than just muscling your influence
upon others. There are others who will make a lot more
influential decisions who you would not consider to be
living successful lives.
Do you remember the
last time you were trying to give
someone directions and they just looked at you with a
blank stare?
Or how about the time
you were asking someone to
repeat something they told you the other day and you
got the coldest gaze into nowhere.
You know you’re in
trouble when you walk up and start
having a conversation with someone you met recently
and they are looking at you because they have no idea
who you are and why you are talking to them.
That can be
embarrassing for you and the person who
forgot they met you.
What causes these
“empty looks” or “empty eyes”?
Well, it’s the same for all of the situations above.
But there is a
different, deeper type of Empty Eyes
that is out there haunting people.
You may know someone
with the Empty Eyes Epidemic
or you may be a sufferer.
In either case Empty
Eyes can be caused by a missing
piece of information, or missing peace can be the reason.
Don’t be caught up
in missing peace in your life.
Don’t be a victim of Empty Eyes.
There are steps that
you can take to keep from
getting Empty Eyes.
Below are a couple of
steps that you can easily apply to
keep away from Empty Eyes.
1.
A.S.K.
Ask yourself what
talents/possession you have that can
help fulfill others’ lives.
Search deep within
yourself to uncover what may have
been hidden for years. There are things that each of us
possess that are given to us which we can share with others.
Your possession might
be writing, singing, listening,
encouraging or any number of other helpful and uplifting
assets you can access for making others feel valuable.
(Incidentally, if you
are wondering how this will fill your
empty eyes – try to give of yourself for 2 weeks and see
if you don’t feel fulfilled. Yes that’s a challenge.)
Keep learning. Some
of the most successful people are
those who have dedicated themselves to reading, leading
and feeding their minds.
If you want to fill
your eyes with something positive and
worthwhile, choose positive and worthwhile material to read.
You may become an expert in an area of your choosing.
2.
RETREAT TO CONQUER
So many things these
days are competing for our eyes and
attention. The idea here is to usually sell you something
or at least get your mind so fixed on an idea or product
that you associate a name with everyday life.
That’s what we do
with Forward-Living. In and of itself
there’s nothing wrong with this. The problem comes when
you allow your eyes to have the attention of product and
material that will leave your eyes and total being feeling empty.
Don’t buy into to
the negative junk that will leave you empty.
We have a good idea of what that is in our life. So take care
of yourself and retreat from the empty-eye makers and conquer.
You will do well to
fill your eyes, head and life with things
that result in the opposite of Empty Eyes. Try to gain a
Full Faith – faith in life, faith in love, faith in people
and yes… faith in yourself.

FORWARD-LIVING LEGEND |
They said he was too
small. They said he didn't have
enough strength. They said he just couldn’t cut it.
He admits it's been tough - really tough.
Sometimes he still
feels he just doesn’t have the height
or strength to go out and compete against the bigger guys.
But he has discovered
it takes much more than physical
size or strength to make it in life - both on and off
the court. At 15 years of age, he was doing a lot of searching.
At that age kids are
wondering about the meaning of life
and are really trying to find themselves. Michael definitely
had a lot of questions.
When he won the 1989
French Open — his first Grand Slam
title — he was only 17. This came much earlier than he or
his family ever dreamed. Michael never expected it, and
he doesn’t think anyone else in the tennis world predicted
it either.
Michael Chang says it
might have been easy to let his
head swell, getting caught up in the money, fame and
glamour of winning. But he is thankful that he was able
to stay focused and not fall into this.
Chang says he
believes that he has been put in a position
to touch people's lives in a positive way. That’s one of the
most important things to him.
Chang has a positive
outlook for life, a winning attitude
and a “can-do” spirit. His
faith has carried him through
some of his most difficult times in his career.
In fact, his faith
has been the common thread of his
entire support system as he raised the standard and
expectation of his tennis play.
Michael Chang could
have let the negative comments and
criticisms keep him from succeeding in his triumphant
tennis career. Instead, he
chose to accept the fact
that he was in control of the outcome of his life.
He could have sulked
about everyone else’s opinions or he
could set out to make things happen for himself.
He
chose to get everything you can out of life before the
juices of passion dry up.
He chose to accept
and believe the concepts of
Forward-Living even though these concepts had not
yet been formulated at the time of his decision.
Take a lesson from
this Forward-Living legend and don’t
get beat down by the peers in your chosen field.
Don’t let your own negative demons overtake your positive
potential to succeed.
Don’t allow
inevitable setbacks to kill your instincts
of your anticipated victory.
Become a Forward-Living Legend.

RESOLUTION REVIEW |
And what about New
Year’s Resolutions?
Don’t fall for the Empty Eyes epidemic of news year’s
resolution.
New Year’s
resolutions are great, don’t get me wrong.
But when you allow the tradition of setting goals to
dictate behavior without a true transformation from
within, you’re just setting yourself up for failure.
If you jump on the
first-of-the-year-diet or the first-of-
the-year-anything bandwagon with “I think I will…” impulse,
you can almost guarantee that when March rolls around,
you’ll be back to the same-old, same-old.
And, if you confided
your resolution to someone, you
might have seen a glazed over look (Empty Eyes) on their
face, as if to say “Here she/he goes again.
I’ve heard it before”.
Remember this…
Motivation can lead to transformation
if your application is in moderation.
In other words, you
can change from within by doing a little
at a time toward a predetermined goal with calculated and
motivated action.
Blessings and Happy
New Year to all.
"The only
thing we have to fear is fear itself".
