Creating Success
Successful Living Article: Creating Success
Creating is a powerful key for successful living in any area of your life.
Think of your favorite famous person. Do you know what made that person successful? What motivated that person to go as far as s/he did to get to where s/he is?
Creation.
Simple creation. That’s what guided that person’s success. If it weren’t for creation, you would not be here. If it weren’t for creation, none of the items you use to make your life easier would be available. If it weren’t for creation, you would not be reading this right now.
“… that’s why today, there isn’t really any competition, unless we make it for ourselves. Instead of competing, all we have to do is create!” ~Earl Nightingale
Life should be an exciting adventure. It should never be a bore. Your life can always be exciting by becoming an architect of creation.
One summer, my wife went to Mexico for a mission trip with our church. I stayed behind with our children who were very young at the time (3 years old & 18 months). I had my hands full to say the least. I missed my wife terribly. But instead of sulking and being brought down with stress, I decided to create an extremely exciting atmosphere for Michelle – my wife – when she got back.
(NOTE: The boys and I had a blast too!!!)
There were some things around the house that we had been talking about doing over the past few months (before she left) regarding home improvement. I decided to get these while she was gone.
1. I had the stairs remodeled. The banister was very old, loose and badly in need of repair. I had it repaired, remodeled and modernized. It looks great!
2. I had some trees ripped up out of the front yard. Our grass wouldn’t grow and the yard was not looking great because the trees didn’t allow sunlight in. When it was time to cut the grass, we would end up cutting dirt in half the yard. So I took those trees out to set the stage for the yard to be groomed and manicured for a healthy lawn.
3. I had her vehicle detailed and her brakes updated. She was extremely pleased when I surprised her by picking her up in a sparkling clean vehicle.
4. I replaced the kitchen sink faucet. The old one was coming loose and needed to be fixed.
I never told her any of this was going to be done. She just learned about them as she came in and discovered them. By the time she saw the stairs, you would have thought that she won the lottery or something. She covered her mouth with her hands, bent over and was laughing and crying at the same time.
Now I’m not telling you all this to toot my own horn (even though I DID GOOD!). I’m just using this as an example to show you that anyone can create a “successful living” atmosphere anywhere, anytime.
YOUR WORKPLACE:
Create a successful atmosphere by being a servant to your coworkers.
Build.
Work.
Dream.
Create.
Do this and you’ll create a surprisingly successful atmosphere for your work life. When I worked in the corporate world, I used to like to make “pigs in a blanket” and take them in to the office for my coworkers to eat about once a month. People are very appreciative and it creates a lighter, more enjoyable place to work. Viola! Successful living at work!
YOUR RELATIONSHIPS:
Create a surprise for your friends, your spouse, your child, your family. Do something like I did. Plan it, implement it, enjoy experiencing it with them. It’s fun to watch people when they are surprised by something you have given them.
Some of the most meaningful creations can be when you give of yourself. Giving of yourself will always lead to successful living.
Keep looking and living forward.
