"What Is Your Life View?"
 

(James 4:2-3)

A successful life is held by the beholder. Surely you’ve known people that are so unhappy, they love to share their unhappy feelings. And if you think hard enough, you can probably think of someone who seems to always be happy and loves to share all the incredible and awesome things that have happened in his/her life.

What is the reason for the extreme difference in perception?

Is one life that different than the other?
Answer: Yes and No

It is severely different if you ask the whiner. The whiner will tell you that if they could just get a break they could have a wonderful life too. If you ask the whiner, you’ll hear about all the negative situations that have happened up until that very minute. And that’s the reason their life sucks so bad.

Moving over to the other, less pessimistic person…

Ask this person if the two people mentioned above are extremely different. Chances are that person would admit there are slight differences, but for the most part, they’ve been given the same ‘breaks’ (or have had them available), they are in the same economic class, and probably even know some of the same people.

What is markedly different is their attitude.

Now fast forward 20 years.

That negative person is going to be still whining, complaining and probably even blaming others for still being in the same place, financially, emotionally and physically. But take a look at that positive person. Life would have changed tremendously. That person is almost always going to be earning more money, have a higher status in life, be even more happy than 20 years before.

You see, you attitude perpetuates your status. Where you are is determined by your choices and your attitude. I heard a preacher say something that I would consider Psychology Gospel. He said, “Your attitude determines your altitude!”

Think about that for a minute.

He was saying the higher you want to go in this life – on this planet – will be determined by how you look at your life. Do you see yourself as a blessed and fortunate person? Or do you see yourself as a cursed and retched individual that will not ever see the light at the end of the tunnel?

This entire concept can be summed up with one word.

BELIEVE

No. That’s not some hokie suggestion to imply if you just believe all your dreams will come true and they will. Nope. That is a fact that states, “Believing is the first step in living a happier and more fulfilling life. Belief is a the foundation upon which all rests. Do you believe in yourself? If not, no one else will either. Do you believe you’ll reach a particular income? If not, you probably won’t. Do you believe?”

It’s simple really. Believe with expectation. Because believing without expectation is simply a wish. So there's your choice. Do you want to believe for results or do you want to continue to wish?
