Cherish & Love Life
|
This week marks one year since my Dad has passed away and I was talking with my father in law yesterday. His wife is in the hospital (ICU) and we were over trying to take some stress of just every day happenings off of him. We were out on the patio talking while my wife was visiting her mother in ICU. While engrossed in conversation, I had an overwhelming need to account for all my children. (I have 4 boys.) Well I accounted for all but one. The youngest was missing in action. So I scanned the yard and didn’t see him. I then heard a splashing sound coming from the back part of the house. I looked to see my 20 month old son struggling for his life in the pool. I ran up on my little boy face up, underwater, not being able to breathe and struggling for his life. I reached down pulled him out of the water and rolled him over so the water would escape his little body. He was fine and only wanted to be held once he caught his breath. Which was fine because all I wanted to do was hold him. So why did I tell you this story? Reason 1: Life is precious. Whether you are older or just a little baby, life is extremely precious. It is valuable beyond belief. These people serve a purpose in more than one person’s life. Likewise, you serve a purpose in the lives of those that you surround. How are you blessing them? Is there someone in need of a hand to be reached out? Do you know someone you can help from drowning in their own doubt or disillusionment? They may not be able to be helped. On the other hand you may see a ‘spark’ in someone that can be ignited. Perhaps, like my son, they just need a chance to shine. Don’t robbed them of the chance to shine. You may be the very inspiration they need to ignite their own spark. Reason 2: Life is short. We are only here a few short years and that’s not long enough to worry about what someone else might think – especially when it comes to our claiming the life we’ve always wanted. You are a flower quickly fading. Your earthly beauty is short lived. Do not let it fade without sharing it with the world. You are a unique person that offers talents to the world in a way that no one else can. Don't wait until it's too late. Go out with no regrets! Mark Thompson
